@Racer-Delux(View Post) Yeah, development is pretty active https://github.com/ThePowderToy/The-Powder-Toy/commits/master There's a new snapshots system which has a bunch of new features that haven't been added to the main release version yet. If you are that ancient of a user, I guess so many elements have been added since last time you were here, it would be hard for me to list them all, so take a look at the wiki yourself.
Art saves and sub-frame contraptions are the trendy types of saves now, if you don't know what sub-frame is, it's a recent thing, basically a bunch of stuff happens in a single frame (I think?), here's a good and simple example by the sub-frame master, notice how the train moves so smoothly.
In terms of moderation, lord Simon is so inactive now that you could just say that he's dead (he isn't though), but jacob1 is slowly taking over his throne and might one day rule us all. Also @boxmein and I became mods and @mniip has very recently received a developer badge.
@cracker1000(View Post) Well, it certainly changed how we look at adding new elements. Theoretically, adding of SAWD might be breaking some saves. But we showed other people that we don't care. We've finally started to begin thinking outside the box. We can see that not every save-breaking change is bad. Some are, but these are a minority. Then there's its use. Are there any other powders capable of floating of water? I don't think so. Are there any other elements able to hold the weight of other elements, even if theirs' is higher? Certainly not. It's something fresh, new and unique. Something that no other element does. Now, compare SAWD to DUST. Dust is a bland, pointless element, from the times when devs didn't know what they wanted to do with the game. It has some reactions, but they are mostly nonsensical and useless. On the other hand, sawdust is a perfect one. Being created from wood, it makes perfect sense. Being flammable too. It is accurate, but not 100% scientifically accurate, and it's great! Now tell me it is not a perfect particle, a deity in the pixel-shaped world of The Powder Toy. SAWD is the end of the game's chain of evolution.
