The Powder Toy wiki is really terribly made. It is not explaining well many things and writes a lot of nonsense (,,Mercury can even sink below some lighter powders like DUST.".).
Whoever wrote it that way must have bad intentions.
+BONUS:
The whole game website are often strangely behaving. For an example,in one my recent save I considtentco cannot add a dot to the end of one sentence. The thread poster also often edits things and I was one forbidden from participating in this forum from phone for no reason. It changed later somehow but after that I lost all my stamps and offline saves. I later somehow regot them again.
It is possible that the fact that my phone fell terribly a few times could be meaningful but I have no idea.

The wiki is a pretty good reference. Nothing you've mentioned in this thread is an actual issue. It is openly editable though, so feel free to modify it if you are writing accurate and relevant info.
MERC does sink below DUST and other powders.
The rest of your issues appear to be problems with your phone.
