I think you mixed between accounts and nicks.
An account is something optional to register, you don't need it for IRC, but it's useful for keeping your nicknames protected so that nobody can steal them, so if you don't want anybody to steal your nickname, register an account using it.

A nickname is probably the thing you were talking about, it's the name people see you as and it can be easily changed anytime you want using a command.

To change your nickname, type
/nick x
where x is the new nickname you want to use and then press enter.

To register an account, do
/msg NickServ help register
to get information on how to register an account, a bot named NickServ will respond to you saying this

I'm guessing the main reason you made this thread is because someone told you that your nick looks like C define and everyone hates defines, but no need to take that seriously, he was obviously joking, stick with whatever name you like the most :P

Edit: I just saw jacob's post, yeah currently only registered users can join the channel, this is temporary though, so you can wait for that restriction to get removed if you don't want to create an account.
