Why is PPIP indestructible?

It's a feature. PPIP can be used in situations surrounded by lots of pressure. PPIP is better in pretty much every way, unless you're intentionally making something destructible.

I and many others hate this 'feature' due to the fact that we like to make things destructible.

So use original PIPE. If you need the pipe to actually be powered, maybe there are alternate solutions, but I can't think of any off the top of my head that would allow reverse/ freeze.

I don't know why you would hate PPIP for additional features, but if you do just continue using PIPE

You can use a tiny bit of PPIP between long sections of regular PIPE to minimize what cannot be destroyed.  There are many creation that use ppip specifically for that feature, it can not be removed.  there are no fully destroyable methods I can think of.  Maybe BPPI (Breakable Powered Pipe) could be a new element.

Let me make this absolutely clear to you... Not everyone likes to put up with indestructibility in their saves; Even the slightest bit... When I see a save that has "destroyable" in it's title, I like to be able to COMPLETELY destroy it, with the rare exception of wall borders, otherwise I downvote it. Why? Because it has indestructible elements in it that can't, in any way, shape, or form, be substituted for with breakable elements... And so why do people use them? Because they don't have access to destroyable forms of those elements.

The only possible solution would be BPPI, like sandwichlizard suggested. Some people use PPIP only for the resistance to pressure. PPIP was like that from the start, I did it because while I was making it, some people were annoyed that PIPE broke so easily.

You can't please everyone, I made PPIP different to please some. It wasn't some after the fact change to make it not break from pressure, and definitely wasn't forcing it on anyone (after all, before PPIP you couldn't reverse/freeze pipe at all)

Unfortunately you can't recreate PIPE in lua. It's way too complicated.

(I mean maybe you could but it wouldn't be exact)

    But anyway ...
    elem.property(tpt.el.ppip.id, "HighPressureTransition", tpt.el.brmt.id)
    elem.property(tpt.el.ppip.id, "HighPressure", 10)
