This is an odd question.Taking elements from mods trom TPT? Usually it's "how do I install mods" not "how do I transfer mod elements".

    Yes,you can,and it varies

Well for Lua mods, such as  the Mo' Explosives mod you've mentioned, youcan just download the files and put them in the same directory as TPT,since the files are already saved as lua scripts. For other mods that don't have such convienences, you:

1.copy and paste the source code

2.put it in a text editor (e.g. Notepad),

3.save the text as autorun.lua (or any name really since you can do "dofile("nameofscript.lua")",

4.put it in the same folder as TPT

    5.run TPT

Alternatively, you can just download the source code and do only steps 3-5.

I'm not sure about other mods, such as Jacob1's mod and nucular's mod. I think this is something that is probably very out of your technical enterprise and very certainly out of mine.I'll let someone else talk about that.

It's honestly just the matter of converting from Lua mods to C++ ones, since C++ mods and elements are literally embedded inside the game executable. Try poking your friendly neighbourhood developer (or the author of your Lua script) to convert their mod to C++. They're a bit worse to distribute and they lack the ability to mix and match but they'll be considerably faster and far more powerful in the sense that there's more of the game outside Lua to twiddle with.

and as always I need to mention that tptelements is a good place to start.

I think most(all?) mods need to have their source, at least according to the comments made when someone forgets to do so. the tricky part is when you find out edits are made to elements other than the ones that are added, and need to figure out which part is different and where to copy it to before re-building

...And that's where the magic of version control systems comes in.
