Error running mods

Whenever I try to open a mod, a few seconds lator it just says "MODNAME has encountered a problem and needs to close!" even thought it hasen't even opened the GUI.
Computer:
Windows XP
2GB ram
7 GB freespace
Direct X GPU
^ just incase you ask.

Okay, so, before we can help you, here is something that would be helpful to know:
1. Link us to the files you downloaded so we can test them ourselves.
2. Let us know which mod it is.
Maybe we can figure out what is going on then.

What OS are you using? Is it Windows XP or maybe something even older?
I've heard of people having problems using my mod on windows XP, it's something with how it's compiled maybe. I'm not sure how to fix it, or why other people's mods would have the same problem. Maybe if they are compiled on vista or 7 they don't run on XP?
Edit2: also try the legacy version of mods, if available. Maybe your computer doesn't support SSE or something.

That doesn't help much.Let me make it a bit clearer.For example,for jacob1's mod,did you click the link that said" Download Version 27.1 for windows. This is a direct link to the zip. *","Download Version 27.1 for 32 bit linux."?Or neither? Then which one did you download? Similar thing for the other mods.
