Honestly, I haven't used the steam release so I don't know what might be the cause. An educated guess would be that the steam release might be saving all the game files in some other directory and in this case it won't load your saves/ stamps from the mod.

You can migrate the data into a common directory to solve the issue but I won't suggest doing it until a new mod update is released (no promise when, but definitely someday).

A response from the official devs would be better though. Thanks for reporting :)

Thanks for answering my question, I'll try to do as you indicated!

P.s.-I'm glad you answered, I'm a big fan of yours.

The steam release saves data in the steam data directory, so that there's cloud sync. Other versions of TPT save it in another shared folder, like %APPDATA%\The-Powder-Toy on Windows.

    You could use
    ddir foldername
as a startup argument to one or the other version to change it into a common folder. As it is, the Steam version uses a different folder than all other versions of TPT.

This is by far one of the most advanced mods I've used, but after a while it does still become lackluster.

I'm not sure if you are still active, or willing to work on this mod, but I do have some suggestions/features I'd love to see implemented.

    • Solidify Tool: Able to harden any gas, liquid or powder into a solid state. Would be extremely useful as it gives a great way to compact materials and gives tons of new ways to experiment.
    • Smash Tool: Able to break down any solid into a powdered state. Allows for better mixing and combining, and could be really useful for a lot of experimentations and builds.
    • Melt Tool: Able to melt down any solid/powder into a liquid state. Allows for a ton of unique combinations, makes mixing better, and could be used to create some awesome builds.
    • Vaporise Tool: Able to vaporise any liquid into a gaseous state. Not sure why this would be useful but it fits with the previous three tools, and I'm sure someone would find a way for this to be useful.

More Elements: This might take a while to implement as there are a lot of different variations, such as base elements, alloys, composites, compounds, mixtures, reactants, and then the accompanied reactions and reverse reactions. However, I feel that if any mod could incorporate the whole periodic table and most commonly (and perhaps some uncommonly) known reactions, reverse reactions, and combinations, it would quickly become the most popular and used mod.

If adding every element is a struggle, I would at least like to see a full metallurgy mechanic added with most base metals and commonly known and used alloys, and then perhaps a system to automatically combine any other metals into an alloy that combines the alloyed metals properties. Metals are fascinating and can be used in conjunction with so many other materials, I would love to be able to use the element editor and mess with making custom alloys.

For example, you could add the base metals and most common alloys (steel that rusts, brass, carbon steel, stainless steel that does not rust, bronze, cast iron could be harder and would have a higher melting point and heat conductivity than regular iron) and then if someone attempted to combine any other metals a system would create a new material, combining the properties and colours of those metals. This new material would not be saved to any toolbar so that the toolbars don't become overcrowded, however another feature could be to add a keybind to allow the user to select the new metal and edit it, allowing them to name it and save it to the "solids" toolbar.

Again, I'm not sure if you are still active, but if you do see this I hope you consider my suggestions, thank you.

Yes, I still check messages sometimes. About those tools, you can use the element editor from my mod and edit the properties of elements as per your need. The element state is a global property and you can't change it on the go. You can learn lua or find other methods to accomplish it though.

As for making the mod more popular, I think the current positioning of this mod is okay enough. I am not able to work on it right now because of my extremely busy schedule but I do plan on to release atleast one more update so that everyone who still wish to use the mod can get a chance to play with it for a little longer.

Also, you should check out this mod for the rest of your needs

It's a bit outdated now though.

Lastly thanks for your feedback :)

I'd like to see Thorium added in the mod. Message me about it and we will hash out ideas, after all the first thorium reactor is being built!
