I guess i'm going to have to agree because they keep bugging me on irc to ... if you don't have anything to say, don't say anything at all. You don't need to raise your post count by posting on everything even if you don't know.

All the other games can push a lot of the actual 'work' on to the video card, such as shapes and textures, and all the 'putting together' is done by the video card (which is a collection of thousands of small processors which makes it perfect for the job).
TPT, however, can't gain a lot of speed from that. What it has to do is send each pixel one by one, there is no moving around etc. Only thing TPT can push to the graphics card is the "transformation" Fancy mode and Newtonian Gravity perform.

1.5 ghz? my ancient pc(which i'm on now) has 1.8ghz!
i had this problem a few days months back when tpt++ came out. It just vanished eventually..try turning off any background functions and give a shortcut for powdertoy to desktop and open it from there.that kinda keeps your PC smooth.also try tpt in fulscreen and non-fullscreen modes. the smaller screen used to give higher fps when i had this problem.

@Finalflash50: Hey be nice! I was just thinking... You are posting something useless too

Well my CPU has 8 Ghz

     That was pertinent because...?

You know, we should have a forum section for "Arguing/Pointless Quibbling"

Anyhow, I think TPT uses only part of your processing power. I'm sure you could find something that can run a program on all of your CPU. It would tpt.setfpscap(1000) your battery consumption, but TPT would run a lot faster.

The FPS cap is only has an effect on powerful computers that would usually run the game too fast, by default, it prevents the game from running faster than 60 FPS. Raising the limit will not improve your framerate if you don't get anywhere near 60 FPS.

To get the best performance out of TPT, make sure
    Large Screen
    ,
    Ambient Heat Simulation
    ,
    Newtonian Gravity
    and
    Water Equalisation
are disabled in the simulation options menu.
You can further speed up the game by setting the display mode to
    Nothing
(This just disables fancy effects, it doesn't prevent you from seeing anything), by pressing
    8
on the keyboard while in the game or going into the Renderer Options (the rainbow icon) and clicking the icon that looks like a beige square near the bottom right.
