Yes, i am in fact working on a TPT particle accelerator , the basic concept is the same as a coil gun...just this time with gravity, HOWEVER i have hit a bit of a problem with the timing system, it goes all well until the last little grav pump ...then it stops , it makes sense as the gravity would be pulling it back as soon as it gets past it but i need it to NOT do that, if anyone can help me figure out the last "coil"'s timing then that would be great, i dont neccasarily need you to do it FOR me jut help me with how :D
i figure it needs to be faster then the others , i wouldnt think slower would help, but im not to sure on the precise working of things like coilguns or particle accelerators, just the main concepts :P
AND also i figure this idea was bound to come out quite soon so this post is also kinda my proof that i was ONE OF the first to think of it as others have probably had it cross theirs minds :D
yes in this save i was actually having an issue when i first made it with one of the bottom "units" staying on , i finally fixed it by adding a little dot of insl
and also ive been trying to get it to work in a small simple version and im starting to think it will simply require making something more elaborate and complex -_-
I've been trying to make a simple partical accelerator for a while, but the particals shot out too fast and sped off the screen, and eventually I gave up. I would comment on yours, but I'm having computer problems... (curse you, ccfl!!!!!!!!)
@nmd(View Post) nice its fine tho and ironically im having the problem that i cant get mine to shoot at all...just ends up stopping at the end of the "firing tube"
yes...now we just need some1 to create the particles ( i honestly cant remember what they used XD) *hint *hint *cough*cough mod *cough *cough
EDIT: also im wondering if these particles CAN even hold momentum......
EDIT 2 : well ive gotten my idea to ..almost.. work ive made it better but i still have the problem that the projectile stops at the end of the barrel , i think it requires a VERY carefully timed sort of gravity "pulse" right at the end but ill admit...i cant time things in tpt at all............
I'm not exactly sure what could be causing this, I didn't look at your save, and I don't know how complete gravity is ATM... but here's my guess. What I think is that because it's being propelled by gravity the second the gravity disappears the particle loses it's velocity because it is not being pushed by air. This would not be a feature, rather a feature that has not been implemented(so basically, this a bug).
EDIT: Basically, velocity(momentum) is part of air simulation, and probably has not been implemented in gravity simulation.
