Powder Toy won't even start.

I've looked through the FAQs, both the one in the tab menu and the forums, and I've scored the download page for possible answers, but I've yet to see the problem I'm having. Basically, I download it from the website, and opened the .zip file that appeared on my desktop. I then clicked the application's icon from my desktop, and it immediately shut down without hesitation, saying that the application "quit unexpectedly". It does this every time I try to launch Powder Toy.
I have a Mac OS X and run on version 10.5.8. Does anyone know why I might be having this problem? -
Did you extract it? Or just opened it?

Yes. Redownload it. Someone else can explain how to extract .zip files on Mac since I have a PC
