Front page art

I know art is removed from the front page often because...its art but im gonna be compleatly honest, yall arent doin a good job at filtering good saves and art. I think this should be a priority, but I have no idea what the devs priority currently. because like 75% of the front page is literally art, it makes me, my friends, and my online friends, feel like its not fair because we work nights and days makeing things and it gets 20-150 views. Im thinking you can make a catagory for art and improve the front page reliability. (I forgot there was feedback catagory)

Frontpage ranking is based on the same criteria for everything. If people enjoy art saves and up vote more, then that's the community's preference. That's something we cannot fix. A combination of the current algorithm and community preferences. It's like any content creation platform.

Art isn't against any rules or guidelines for frontpage status. We try to balance out the frontpage the best we can when we have time, however, we are a small volunteer team that works on all portions of the management (developing, moderating comments/saves/forums) along with our daily lives. Combining these factors, understand that we generally prioritize a lot of things more than frontpage issues at this point. While we're working in the frontpage issues, it isn't a high priority on the list.

We plan on doing some algorithm fixes at some point revamping the back-end from scratch (which is being developed right now).

We've looked into adding more staff members, but in this case there's just no need to. Like I've said, the frontpage art issue isn't really a moderation issue since it's user preference and algorithm factors. There's no rules broken by users or guidelines.

Additionally, finding qualified people who are willing and able to volunteer their time is difficult. While we don't have a standard criteria of who is a good pick, we generally require someone in the community with a good standing reputation, and certain age and education demographics. The latter part is simple - we want staff that demonstrate they can a) be integral with users in terms of data and social privacy, b) making decisions on multiple complex factors, and c) skills and experience outside of just moderating. I'd like members who can contribute tangible benefit to the project. All of us involved have or are currently making significant contributions. Developing the game itself, developing front/back-end, or administrative upkeep.

Many just aren't around long enough or fail to meet the criteria during the process of scouting users out. Moderation isn't an excessive workload to warrant more moderator focused staffing. What's important is users actually reporting rule violations or issues. We can't and don't want to be checking every save on a regular basis since then no one will get anything of value for their time

I can back up everything @Lockheedmartin is saying, he summarizes it pretty nicely.

Basically it's up to the community what is on front page. We used to proactively demote deco art, and many users encouraged us to, hating on art saves saying they weren't acceptable front page material. I started backing off on this, I never felt like it was completely fair to the saves that did actually have effort put in.
I do sometimes see low-effort meme/art saves on front page. I would still prefer if these were not there. I just don't have the time to moderate front page closely, and I couldn't fairly moderate it unless I checked it every day. It would send conflicting messages if I logged on just once a week and demoted a bunch of "unfit" saves from front page, considering the community put them there. I would like to change the formula to rank "controversial" saves lower, this would better reflect the community's will and remove low effort saves earlier.

Regarding the second one, we haven't seen a need for it. Moderators have to be respected community members, that the tpt mods know well and have good standing with. Moderators in the past were found via TPT Development and IRC activity. In the future perhaps we'll also find them via Discord. We haven't been seeking applications since we don't need it, but if we ever do need it it will come from the usual channels.

Im just saying that there should be a diffrent tab for it. What im saying is that you can im not FORCEING you  to but you can  make it so that when you go to browser you can select if you want to see art or if you want to see things that function or a combination of the art and things that do stuff. Like three seperate areas so that way its more fair for both sides. And the way you can make it so that it gets on the art or mechanical side is by giveing us choices asking if its art or mechanical. I dont know if I explained that well but please do ask if you are confused. Im not reallly telling you to do it now, nor telling you to do it later but in my eyes and maybe diffrent eyes the powder toy would be better and more fair for both sides. Because like i said when i made the thread: I dont know your priority.  @Lockheedmartin and if you dont have enough mods for whatever you need em for im not asking you to get more mods im just suggesting

It'd still need filtering art saves in order to put them there
