There should be a way to speed up and slow down the speed at which the simulation plays

There's this time dilation feature available in tpt ultimia mode (as bowserinator like to call it)

Also, if you just want to slow/fast simulation speed there's a "tpt.setfps(value)" command.

(Setting it to higher values might not work if your pc is old and crappy.)

Ctrl-F is already used, for the Find Selected Element mode.

Time can't be sped up. TPT already simulates frames as fast as it can. It caps this at 60, but most of the time you aren't at 60fps, you are at something lower than this, and there is no way to make TPT simulate any faster.
There are methods to increase fps, but they aren't relevant for an element whose purpose is to speed up time.

An element which slows down times by reducing movement and particle updates could work. Perhaps you could also do movement and updates extra times to simulate "sped up" time. I don't keep track of whether any mods do this, but I have seen it done before long ago.
