Newtonian gravity question

Im kinda new to the game and i haven't really used the newtonian gravity, i would like to know what does it affects exactly. Does it really just "enables" the black hole and the photon and neutron bending or does it have an effect on fire, explosions etc. ?

It is just another gravity map. So particles will be slightly attracted to it depending on strength. This is still a very important effect that many saves rely on.
It can also affect state transitions (things that break under pressure may break under high gravity), but for the most part it's used to generate local gravity fields.
