Linux Performance Lacking

Hey everyone, I've noticed the linux clients running MUCH worse than windows. I used my own creation: 2521516 as a benchmark on the same PC. In Linux x64, I get around 20 FPS when playing. In Windows 32bit, I get around 60 FPS In Wine (compat layer for linux), I'm getting high 50 FPS. Has anyone else experienced this performance difference?

This seems to be a you issue. I have no performance issues what-so-ever.

Might sound dumb, but what if this is a difference of paused vs. unpaused?

Also, is 20fps normal for you? That seems extremely low, and I get 60fps on my junk 4.5 year old laptop.

Various other things can impact performance, like single vs. double scale, and gpu power.

@INFINITY-BOI yeah, so I tried your solution, but I'm still stuck at 20FPS. It works fine in WINE, strangely.

I'm running Ubuntu 20.04 and it runs really well for me.

I also use the Max FPS mod, but even without it I still get 60 FPS while I have other CPU intensive applications on in the background.

Looking at your benchmark, I get 60 FPS just fine.

Well, I'm running KDE neon and got the executable from flathub, so this must be a me issue. @plasmey_401k do you run any specific optimizations?

The flathub build isn't official. Try using an official copy of the game.

Please download the official version from the download page: https://powdertoy.co.uk/Download.html

I might try the flathub build later and see what they are doing. If it's unnaturally slow like you describe it to be, I'll try to make them fix it or remove it from flathub.
