This has been suggested quite a lot, and we always reject it.
    • It would require continuous monitoring to make sure all saves people marked as "art" are actually art, and saves people don't mark as "art" aren't art.
    • How are we supposed to deal with users who intentionally don't mark their saves properly? and how do we know it's intentional? Wouldn't it be dumb to ban them for a reason like that?
    • The current FP already has a reasonable number of art saves right now. If it becomes clogged with art saves to the point where there's hardly any spot left for non-art saves, then you can report any of the art saves and state that the FP is extremely full of those. A moderator will probably come and manually filter out some of them to open up space for functional saves.
    • It would be a hassle to implement this anyway; not only does it require client-side changes, but also server-side changes to support this.

Here's the thing, if a save truly deserves FP (regardless of whether it's art or not), then most likely, it will get there; people will upvote it until it earns a good spot. If it doesn't earn a spot, re-uploading the save at a later time or bumping the save back up to the most recent page should help.

A better idea is to increase the size of FP, allowing more saves to be featured there. This is much easier to implement (jacob1's mod already has that), and devs are already in favour of this decision.

TPT isn't made for arts , i suggest second FP for drawings

TPT wasn't made for many things. I hate when users try to bring up this notion that the game was not made for art. That kind of reasoning only divides and alienates community members who intend to make good content to share

The FP is constantly being balanced by votes, but also the occasional intervention by staff. We could add more FP slots, but then again, I'm one of the dissenting staff who would prefer to make the FP a recommended results section. That way all saves have a chance to somehow be randomly crawled by users and there's no push and pull between everyone about spotlight spaces.

Originally, the FP was just the most voted saves - what we have right now with the second page. Obviously we won't go back to that system and there's always a certain need for balance. Each user has their own idea of what they want for themselves. No one actually has a real, objective answer to what everyone wants.

Many does not equal everyone. Neither does that constitute the majority or a fair percentage of users registered with the game.

Additionally the other points remain valid for why we simply won't implement a second FP solely for art. @Mrprocom has also given a number of other valid points regarding why we won't implement this and other category specific pages.

I strongly disagree with segregating non-art and art saves. I want the front page to be a showcase of all the best saves, regardless of what their subject / style is. There is absolutely no reason to classify art saves as any different or inferior to the rest.

There are many excellent art saves out there, including this one on front page right now: https://powdertoy.co.uk/Browse/View.html?ID=2535778
You can't tell me that save is worse than the rest of front page just because it's art.

I think the main issue is that front page is too slowly changing, and not a good showcase of all the best saves created in the last week. It does need changes, such as more expansion, and a better formula than votes/log(time). Maybe if there's a save that's gotten 5-10 votes in the last week, but not quickly, we still want to show it on front page.

Any changes I make I expect will benefit art and non-art saves equally. All saves suffer from the limited number of front page slots. If we just expand the amount of saves regularly shown to users, the front page will feel fresher.

"Many people said they want this"
I think part of the thing too is that people who are against art are a lot more vocal about it, and the people who like art on the front page already have it so they don't have to make comments and threads about it. It's not perfect, but the front page is already a sort of voting system. If people want art on there, it'll end up there, and if it gets too much the mods will step in. If nobody wanted art, it wouldn't end up on FP to begin with, and we wouldn't have to discuss it

I would also like to say that art is not easy, especially on a medium like the powder toy. It's not Photoshop; you don't have fancy tools and brushes to add highlights, shadows, colour blends and whatnot like in Photoshop, and you cannot select an area and morph it if the dimensions or if the perspective is wrong.

We aren't helping artists either with how they can present their work. They are required to use in-game elements with their default colours to some extent if they want their save's thumbnail to look attractive, and we are kind of against totally deco-dependent art; if needed, those are probably the most likely ones to get demoted from the front page.

Apart from the medium and the default-element-colours challenge, making good art just requires a lot of practice. Knowledge of how to use tools is not enough, unlike how knowledge of TPT elements pretty much allows you to make great functional saves. We should appreciate their hard efforts and allow their saves to be showcased on the FP (of course, we can intervene if things go out of control). Also, even if an artist was able to finish their art save very quickly, it would still be appreciable as it would still be a result of ages-worth of practising.
