Is it still acceptable to use Windows XP

Anyone still on XP ought to move to linux if possible, it's equally lightweight on your computer, supports equally old hardware, and has far better security.

It's not acceptable. Definitely use a Linux VM instead.
TPT only supports Windows XP because of a checkbox I checked when installing visual studio. Microsoft doesn't want me to support it either. I'm also fairly sure the latest version has no online functionality in XP anymore. -
How is it illegal to use XP in a VM? That doesn't make sense, especially if they obtained the product key legally. I'm sure there's still a way to do that, through authorized resellers or some other legal manner.

But my "not acceptable" comment still stands. Don't use XP for anything more than experimentation, and be cautious of what you download since you will have virtually no protection from viruses. -
If you need to run XP, XP point of sale edition was updated up to a few months ago when it finally EOL'ed. Its by far the most up to date security wise of the XPs.
