TPT directory problem in Linux

When I start TPT from a launcher, it doesn't recognize its home dir. It assumes that my home (/home/matera) is its home, not /home/matera/powder. If I start it directly, double-clicking in the file manager, it's okay. This has happened before, but I got it straightened out When it first did it this time, I thought a clean install would fix it -- but it hasn't.

It's frustrating, since I often need to restart it when I'm messing with scripts. Using a launcher is much faster, but it's useless if the new window can't find its scripts, saves, etc.

Now I do have a workaround for this -- make links to everything and toss them in my home dir. Kludgy and cluttery, but it works. I've actually been keeping a link to powder.pref there for a long time, but never had to do the whole shebang until now.

I was wondering if there is a cleaner way to fix it, a command parameter that I could put in the launcher. I have searched but not found anything relevant so far. It can't be just me?

I've had various workarounds for this before, when i get home I'll check what my current workaround is. I think I installed it (Ctrl+i) which sets the working directory. I've also used shell scripts before.

Note that your desktop environment may not dare overwrite your existing launchers. Mine doesn't, I have to delete them for TPT to be able to create correct ones.
