So there has been times in my life where I accidentally downvote an awesome save I meant to upvote. When I realized your vote is permanant and cannot be changed, I started having guilt on those saves, so I was wondering if you could add an undo for voting if you vote wrong, or change minds in voting. Say you downvote a save because it wasn't good but then the creator of that save updates it so that it meets your standards, but now it's permanentaly downvoted even when it's updated and good again. If there was an undo button for voting, this would be very handy if you make a mistake in voting.
This realy neds to be added.
Already discussed here. The concensus seems to be that being able to change your vote long after initially voting is not a good idea. A delay has been discussed between voting and your vote locking in, which could be implemented entirely on the client side and I'm all for it.
As for changing a vote on a save because the author updated it; the thing is, if the author changes a save so substantially that you want to change your vote on it, the author should probably publish new save. And most authors will just do that, as they realise that not all people who downvoted would change their vote, even if the save gets good.
In general though, you should just make sure you press the right button. :P
Do you happen to know if the perma voting is enforced server side?
If you downvote a save accidentally, you can always explain in the comments that it was an accident.
You could make it only possible to undo a downvote to an upvote but not the other way? The reality is that it really does affect saves number-wise no matter how much someone apologizes you lost a vote forever.
Edit: There simply is a minor problem that could be fixed so we don't have to fix it ourselves.
-Put the vote buttons far apart
-Add dialog box for are you sure
-add undoing votes and adding rules for voting fraud
-allow creators to see who upvoted your stuff but not who downvoted
It would be great if you could add a are you sure and to put the buttons away
