It's for the best. Not using new features doesn't mean that there aren't any other differences that would cause problems.

I'm saving tests locally with a "beta" prefix on the file name. I renamed the new Powder executable and put a backup copy of the old version back in the same folder so I can use both interchangeably. That way I can still upload, or modify older saves, and still test the beta. Not sure how well this would go over in today's Windows, but it is still possible to download the old stable version if you need to change back or try dual-Powdering.

I've been doing beta testing of interesting software for longer than a lot of TPT users have been breathing air. So I always back up the old when trying the new.  ;)

I'll also just add, we do have a way to detect if new features get used. When making saves with stasis wall, ldtc, or the new tsns/psns modes, it marks it as only available in 94.0. Then when uploading, the beta or snapshot is supposed to say "you can't upload this, it uses 94.0 features".

But I forgot to actually add the 94.0 feature detection... So I just blocked uploading entirely. If I release a 2nd beta (unlikely), you will be able to upload saves as long as it doesn't use 94.0 features.
