This is a well known glitch that's been around since well before 42.3
It has to do with how particles move at a preset maximum speed while inside of walls, but still have the ability to gain speed while inside of them without actually speeding up (which is shown only when they exit.)
The same thing happens with Fan walls and Liquid filtering walls too, actually.
