How do I use Mods with TPT App?

Today I downloaded the Alchemy Mod: 4 Elements to Rule Them All. I noticed it came with its own app to use however is there a way to open it through the official app or do we have to use the one that comes with the download?

I ask cause from my understanding of mods (which is very limited) they are to enhance a game or application. Is this different with TPT or is there something I am missing?

Use the one who comes from the download.

There are two types of mods. The first are Lua mods. These are more like what you expect, you put them in a folder and load them using an interface in game. They allow you to add elements, but are a bit laggy sometimes. The script manager is actually a script itself, go into the Lua section of the forums to see how to download it (it isn't in the game by default)

The one you downloaded is a c++ mod. Powder Toy is written in c++ and is open source, so anyone can take the source and modify it. Then they release their version as a mod, which is an entirely standalone version of powder you that is run separately. Powder toy is small so it is no big deal to download a 5MB file for the mod. You can put the mod wherever you want, if you put it in the same folder as default TPT it will load all your settings and login info.
