I can't change my username.

    I have seen screenshots of people asking Simon, but I cannot find a way to do this, all help is greatly appreciated.

    There is no way to change your username, it hasn't been done in years

    Well, can't you take away the entire username thing and just identify users by their email addresses, can't you? Or would that be a disaster? Because I'm still not confident about the way TPT manages user email addresses in their accounts. I might just be paranoid but who knows...

    Email addresses should definitely not be public. But, do you mean logins work using email as the username? Since that is something that could work (but would probably just confuse a lot of people that forgot what email they signed up with). It wouldn't help at all with username changes though.

    Also why are you "not confident" about how it manages emails? >_>

Malicious people looking to hack someone will often try to obtain the person's main email address, and all sorts of unpleasant things can happen when you know and can access a person's email address. Having public usernames be email addresses would be helping those people and inviting those things in.

     

    Now, having logins use emails is alright, and OpenID does a good job of handling that sort of thing, but it's separate from public usernames, so...
