Major Issues With New Version (Mac OS X)

This post is mainly pointed toward Jacob and the other Mods.

The new version of TPT does NOT work on Mac. Sure, the executable opens, but then things go wrong...

First off, every time I open it it asks me to confirm screen resolution things. This is GREAT the first time. I was really excited! But every time...?

After that, I noticed that every time I open TPT, I need to log in again. I don't remain logged in. Extremely annoying.

Then, if you attempt to open the save browser, TPT literally has a seizure. Opening the save browser looks ok for the first few seconds, but then starts glitching. When I say glitching, I mean it... The screen begins flashing, showing random "strips" of random parts of the game. As an example, I'll see strips of random save pages, menus, element colors, names, and the lot. Each strip is about 2-3 pixels high, half the screen or more long. Usually they come in large groups. During this, the simulation becomes unresponsive. Once I was able to close the browser, but the glitches did not stop. Then TPT bluescreens, but refuses to close using the typical "X" at the top. So, I tried using "Force Quit" from the dock, but it still would not close. It requires a terminal running a force kill based on PID in order to actually shut down...

As one final note, TPT did not notify me of a new version. I figured it out when I couldn't open saves because of "Save from newer version"

    In short,

TPT is NOT stable on Mac. I recommend reverting to version 91 (At least it is stable...) until you make it stable!!! It is completely impossible to use! I fear for any new users on mac trying to run TPT and being met with this issue.

This is the third thread about the problem actually, lol.

If you want a fix for now see here: http://tpt.io/.291834 There is a working download in there. In short, there really is nothing in particular causing this problem, the compiler just decided it didn't like me and made that happen >:, but tweaking the flags fixed it.

As for your setting things, try logging in then exiting the game. Maybe it's an issue that needs to be fixed, but settings are only saved on exit. If your game crashes ... then settings are never saved.

Not notifying you of a new version worries me though, that shouldn't happen. What version of OS X are you on? It's possible that Simon disabled updates for OS X (i'll ask him later), which is something that makes sense considering how broken the current one is.

(BTW pressing force close over and over does eventually close it)

Thanks for that link. You should put a working version up ASAP.

I currently am running OSX Yosemite.

Also, sorry to be a bother :P

I'm working on it now, trying to package the .dmg file properly. Which I just figured out, now I need to automate it and give it to Simon.

Edit: Well it's getting late so I guess the mac version will again have to be delayed a day. I had it all entirely working and was excited, then I went to open it and OS X complained that the checksum on the dmg file was invalid. I'm not sure how or why, since snapshot 34 seemed to work fine.

I think https://cracker.starcatcher.us/TPT/Download/Snapshot.dmg opens fine though? Not sure ...
