changing the description will not reset anything, so it's ok to do. If you change the name, the old save with all of that will still be there, but the one with the new name will also be there with none of the votes or comments, and a new id.

I used to be worried about this too, I wasn't sure what would happen. No matter what you do, you won't delete votes or comments (although saving something with the exact same name you had before will save it over the old one, but you can use history:id in the search bar to get it back)
