I can use both Linux and windows, and its clear that you don't use windows or know why people use it. I don't understand the default download or ad stuff, but starting with the personalization stuff, well yes there is more on Linux. But do the people who want to use windows care? Maybe, but they've been used to how it looks their entire lives, and most like it. There are still some hacks you can do to change it.
Saying nothing is new in windows 8 is ignorance, I'm sure you have heard a ton about it. Its now designed for tablets and touch screens and is also much faster. Of course it actually isn't that good but its very new and they took a big risk to change a lot and make it. 7 has a few new things and fixes some of vistas problems, and that is the one I use.

Also I really dislike people that are so much Linux fanboys they say, no ide, no folder viewer. Use vim, grep, and find for everything, its the Linux way and the only right way. Well ..
No, of course not. Rejecting guis and user interfaces is idiotic, that is the reason computers became a success that everyone has. Without them productivity is horribly slow, and you waste time. You can use them when you need (SSH to a server ex.) But using those only just isn't right.

Windows isn't posix compatible, but as I said people don't use it for the command line, it uses a nice user interface. If you want to try things like make, you need to install a bunch of stuff and its annoying.
Also Linux is fine with projectors, I've seen it.

People use both Linux and windows for different good reasons, and usually just one is right for you. But arguing about it saying one is always better won't work, chances are everyone will give valid reasons and places where one is better than another. I think they ate both good and I use them both for different things.

I can confirm that since every classroom in my school is equipped with a projector connected to a linux.

Let me correct you:

It's clear that you haven't used any of these. Vista is like XP with more speed and better GUI. Windows 7 is like vista++. But windows 8 is frickin' awsome. It's new MUI rules and is perfectly compatible for tablets and touchscreen devices like Ultrabook. It has a BIG list of personalisation options, gets out of freezes faster, and I love the way it turns on in 3 sec everytime.

As a friend once told me:

Windows is a motorcyle. It's generally reliable and quite fast

Linux is a motorcycle you build yourself: ie. you get it right and it rocks or you get it wrong and it falls apart.

Mac is a tricycle: it sucks.

2) windows boot is really broken, it takes almost the same as on linux now, but after you log in, on windows, you can't use your comp for like a minute, while various stuff loads.
3) windows is like 10 gigabytes. not even quarter of that can load in 3 seconds, and ... let's see... my debian install is 1.5 gigs, with parallel init,d it takes about 7-8 seconds to bring me to login screen

In sleep mode, Win8 turns on in 2 sec, and shows the lock screen. I have an intel i5 and Win8 turns on in 3 sec. I'm serious. And after showing the MUI it works fine, except it takes about 5 more seconds to load touchpad special functions.
