I really hope that CISPA won't pass, but really I can't do anything to stop it. Even if all the sites like TPT would shutdown for a day, it doesn't matter. It's not going to stop the law if it's going to pass. Unless all the real big sites would shutdown (Google, Facebook, Twitter, etc...) all their sites and services, it would have no effect.
(All I know that I have to pirate all the things now before it's too late! (I'm kidding.)) -

Anonymous have stated they will only target people who they believe deserve it. Look up the Westboro Baptist Church. They parade funerals toting signs that read 'God hates fags!' and lots of other offensive rubbish. Anonymous warned them, and when they were mocked, they hacked their website the next day. They hacked the CIA, FBI and other government websites, because they believe they deserve it too, and they are controlling people.
Really, anyone who wants to be a part of anonymous is already a member. I believe they are real (there have been news interviews, but then again, that doesn't really prove anything, could be a random guy saying "Oh, yeah I'm a part of anonymous, interview me!"
If they honsetly believe the government is up to something, they should gather as much evidence as possible, and spam it all into google, Facebook, Twitter and every other major website. That ought to wake some people up.

oh come on, stop discussing politics in powder toy. it's just life and it's just another day. it is impossible for the internet to shut down, since it has millions of servers and billions of people accessing it. IT industry has been growing unbelievably fast and the internet has brought the world closer to us. shutting it down will be like,and as hard as say, destroying the sun =P

No, not shut it down completely. It doesn't mean you can't bring up google. It just means going onto some sites say 'x has blacked out its site temporarily.' Like this:

people in anonymous ARE troublemakers. Bringing down websites does cause trouble. Are you saying the CIA, FBI, and US government are bad? Without the FBI, there would still be two bombers out there probably doing another attack. Without the government ... everything would just be chaos. Bringing down government websites could probably stop them from doing their jobs correctly, and let some criminals go uncaught. Also sure, the Westboro Baptist Church is bad, but they are still protesting, aren't they? Also, When I heard Anonymous hacked North Korea's twitter, the first thing I thought was "please don't let these hackers spark a nuclear war", because they easily could have.
Also I guess Anonymous is real, and we can't tell how many people are in it. It's hard to tell how it's organized it is / who the most active members are actually doing all this stuff.
I don't see many major websites participating in this (because it protects them, and they don't want to be seen supporting hackers), but I also don't see this law passing anyway. It's probably just going to sit there in the senate, unpassed. All the websites going down would just lead to this same result that is most likely happening, CISPA doesn't have as much support in the government as SOPA/PIPA did. -
