I want to know what the different things are like:
    Effects
    Effects2
    Warp
    Blur
    etc

Can someone explain what these are, and how they correspond to the original 10 display modes?

*sigh* there are 3 topics on this already. All will be clear, just make sure you update yourself on the official feedback, a developer is likely to post there and inform us about the changes.

Personally, I think they are stupid, but meh, Simon said they won't be removed.
And old displays won't be kept for legacy sake. :I

i think that this new display add signifigant personalization to the type of display that is offered.

I've already been able to figure out some of the displays charictoristics utilizing statistical analysis of the effects:
blur- adds smudging effects to liquids and gasses to add realism.
glow- adds any materials ability to change color or lighting; filter when temp changes, sparks on metal glow, energy particals glow, powered materials on/off (bright dark) changes, and heated materials glow like metals, molten solids, ect.

It's still up in the air. some modes contradict others, and will be disabled like radio buttons if you enable more than one.

Both of the effects buttons do absolutely nothing. The one on top is in the code in one place, and it has something to do with nothing mode, but it doesn't appear to do anything yet.

Warp has some of the effects in fancy display, like newtonian gravity bending particles and signs. Everything else should be obvious except blur and glow, which were explained by guitarboy342.
