Segregating art from other saves is 1. ridiculous and 2. doesn't worth the effort. All saves that don't break the rules have equal rights to exist. And they have equal rights to be on FP. Don't like the art being on FP? It's totally your opinion, but it's at very least ridiculous to try to fit everything to your wishes. Don't want art to be on FP? Just go and make saves that will be praised higher than it. TPT is a place for anything creative, not just for functional and technical machines.

I think this should be a priority, but I have no idea what the devs priority currently. because like 75% of the front page is literally art
We wanted to make clear that we *do* have other priorities and probably won't look into solutions until said higher priorities are completed.

possibly a bot could be made that filters out art saves from real saves, possibly using the google reverse image search to compare tpt art with real existing art, and then have a seperate front page for art. but that would probably be more effort than it's worth

While I tend to agree with the people who say that art on the frontpage reflects the users preferences I can also see that the proportion of art saves vs. all other types of saves is off at the moment: 12 of the 15/16 saves on the FP are art. I personally am holding out on uploading technical saves that took me more than a day of work right now because I think they just aren't appreciated enough, so I guess what you have here is a vicious cycle: people basically only vote up art saves so creators focus on creating art and the quality of all other saves declines as a result, causing more people to only vote up art saves, etc.

2,5 Months after my last post the proportion of artwork vs. other saves is now 15 out of 15/16. It appears the vicious cycle I mentioned in my last post is real, ignoring the problem doesn't make it go away, and the TPT community should probably start using MS Paint instead.

Sorry for the necro, but this needs to be addressed imo. Saves are all art, both take time to work on, just like real life art. You work on it for a time, all great art takes hours/days/weeks.
Why is this even a debate? Functional or not, it's still art, even map saves are art. Instead of pushing people away, we should be encouraging these people. It's a bit immature to claim art saves shouldn't get front page.

@Blazeblaze I think @CCl2F2 means that if you want an art category, there has to be some moderator or algorithm checking whether a save is an art save or not.

The Powder Toy may not be DeviantArt, but honestly if you think about it. All saves are art, most functional, some aren't. This doesn't create a drop in quality.
If anything it pushes people to get better, no matter if it's functional or not, both saves take time to create. Just like I mentioned in my above post. And pushing people away will not help the community.
I am sick of the immature argument "Art isn't front page worthy." By that logic most saves shouldn't get front page. Some saves rely on deco to hide functions of a save.
