I don't know much about the confirmation email thing, but if that is true I recommend you don't go advertising that fact everywhere. It would make it easier for spammers, ban evaders, and multi-account voters to register an account if you didn't need to confirm your email.
You should definitely use your real email though and register an account using that, and don't make alts unless you have a good reason.
At the time this thread was posted, that page did exist, but it was broken. It's been fixed now. Also done since this thread has been posted - all accounts require email confirmation, and registration with temporary email providers is blocked.
