One other thing, is that while people will remember the great users that left, they forget the bad users that also left. People only remember the great users that left and say it was better back then, but it's really almost the same. In fact, I do remember a lot if hating on the forums resulting in bans, that doesn't happen often anymore. So, while many great users left, we have great replacements, and the community is mostly the same way
As for worse saves, most ideas have been done before so older people don't see new saves as as good, but there really are still many good new saves -
Here's an interesting way to look at it:
The Beginning -The start of the new forums (there was an old one... maybe that's what you're talking about?)
Growth -Things started getting added to the game, users came, it was good.
The golden age -Rich community, Great game, intelligible people on forums ect.
The decline of the golden age -Influx of people, a decline in save uniqueness, old users start leaving
The Infamous user age - A subset of the golden age. A time where there always seemed to be succession of annoying users on the forums. It ended with the banning of PacBrad.
The ++ era -The Time after the decline when TPT++ was created. I cant say much about it because we are in it*
*or on the edge of it, or already passed it and going on a different era, you can't tell with these things until after its over

He was, simply put, a user packed in a troll, baked until crispy, and served on a plate of annoyance beside the butter of the banned.
