to be honest. thats not the case entirely. the Heavy tanks were primarily used to handle the heavy tanks that the russians had. the heavy tanks were also good for campaigns which the germans had to focus on if they ever had a chance at winning the war. the battle of the bulge was the best example of this.

E-100 would not work, E-75 and E-50 were just upgraded Tiger II and Panther with some sort of compatibility but the best of E-series was actually E-25. When you look at postwar Kanonen jagdpanzer and Raketen jagdpanzer, they are very similar to E-25. If Germans focused on medium tanks and TD's instead of heavy tanks (Panther with 45 tonnes is more heavy than medium tank), they would last longer.

DEAR GOD NO, I HATE STRUMPANZER MAUS!

let's make M551 Sheridan

to be honest the E100 was supposed to be maus 2 but it wasnt created...and the germans were desperate but...adding a sturmtiger gun to a maus slightely works out... its a heavy Sturmtiger with a turret.
-
yes adding a "E100" turret on a maus and call it Maus 2.... or hey adding a Anti-aircraft turret to a Super heavy tank with a thin roof....
