Did you try the Windows version under wine? Or compiling the source?

There is .deb package for Ubuntu (and maybe Debian).

.deb is for any debian base system

Sounds like your running your browser through WINE if your getting a windows download package. Here is the correct package for linux anyway: https://powdertoy.co.uk/download/powder-41.3-lin32.zip -OR- https://powdertoy.co.uk/download/the-powder-toy_41.3.0_i386.deb

Btw, I think 10.04 is the latest LTS release, you might want to consider updating your distro via the update manager. Open it up, install all update and refresh, you should get a banner at the top stating an update is available.

EDIT: Just seen the dependancies notice in a terminal run
    sudo aptitude install libsdl1.2

.deb was made in Ubuntu, so maybe it wouldn't work in Debian.

That's like saying a ZIP on linux won't work on Windows, if it doesn't open then its corrupted. DEB has a standard format like ZIP (supposedly) has.

    A-a-a!
I can make .deb write into directories only Ubuntu have, and it wouldn't "work" in Debian.

I can also make .EXE's write into directories only my computer has, so for all intents and purposes, It won't even work in windows.
