TPTMP Suggestion

For the next version of TPTMP, I suggest a direct report button to be added. This can help prevent users to lag people to death or show them NSFW content prone to be shown to kids. Moderators wont have to be in TPTMP at all to patrol. We users could expand our privileges to keep people from breaking the rules making it harder to become silent outlaws of TPTMP.

Yes, this is VERY much needed. Maybe a console command such as "/report [player name] [reason]" or smth.

Although, do you think there would have to be a way of providing evidince? you could report someone for anything, so I think a moderator would still have to be present, or at least online at the time to confirm the report. What do you all think?

I wrote some details about our stance on moderation here - https://powdertoy.co.uk/Discussions/Thread/View.html?Thread=25400#moderators

The short answer is that you can use /smsg (or /pray) to send a message that only moderators can read. We might not be online at the time, but if a mod is watching the chat they can handle it. Be sure to include details about what's going on, especially things we can't see (like what's being drawn or pasted). We can read the chat, but stuff happening in-game is invisible to us if we aren't online.

If someone is being really annoying, I would say report them and move into a private room. We give our best effort to moderate tptmp, but with how fast-paced it is, we don't dedicate the time to watch the chat all day. We can act on reports for past events though.

@jacob1 (View Post), Thanks for the information, but if mods can only see the messages in TPTMP, then there should really be a report button that gets sent directly to the mods like how reported saves are sent. This can help them get notified sooner than usual.

Honestly- it won't get us to "get notified sooner".

We aren't full-time, on the clock, staff. We check the Reports page and the chats whenever we have time to take a glance. Our actual daily life like jobs and education are why we don't take high priority in getting live notifications of this sort of stuff. Sending a report or a direct message to staff is actually the best approach.

/smsg IS the tptmp report button. It doesn't create an actionable item for us like a TPT report does, but we will still see it. We want to avoid turning it into the tpt report system for the reasons Sylvi mentioned, although you are free to DM us on the website (@ tpt-moderators) if you want. You'll get a response that way.

If you do an /smsg and we're online, we'll reply to you in the tptmp chat.

@jacob1 (View Post) and @Sylvi (View Post) thanks for more of the info. Also, sorry for the slight misunderstanding I had. Now I know there are better methods for this and how moderation works. But I just have one more question: is it also good to DM jacobot as a report or is it not qualified for that yet?

Nope, reports are a very different kind of interaction from messages. Anyway, attempting to message jacobot tells you to message @tpt-moderators , which you should.

Makes sense, @LBPHacker (View Post). I just saw its bio. It's dependant on mods.
