Stupid small little rant

I've been going through some saves with cool save ids, there's idiots always downvoting the save, even if it is literally PRIVATED. Like why? It's literally private but you downvote it, it's not supposed to be seen by many people because it's PRIVATED.

If democracies allowed for negative votes no popular politician would have a chance of getting elected because voters for other parties would vote them out.

Negative votes in TPT are bad because they discourage new users and if there is one thing this game needs it's more active users. Chances are that a new user won't produce the most technically proficient and beautiflul saves, which means they get lots of downvotes every time they publish a save even if they spent a lot of time and effort creating it. Most new users that receive this treatment stop publishing after the 20th save or so, never to be seen again.

Remember there are no tiers in this game, the saves you see could be made by a newbie as well as made by someone with 10 years of experience, and if you judge their saves by the same standard this game won't be much fun for the newbies (nor for young kids).

Everyone who dislikes your saves is a hater or mean mentality. Realistically this in my opinion may come off as brash, or rude, however. This is a prime example of why society is softer than Charmin toilet paper at the moment. Cause how dare anyone have an opinion on something, or dislike something without being called names. Toddler mentality. People have a right to like and dislike something, even if it doesn't align with your views, opinions, and beliefs. Edit: Nobody is exempt to criticism.

Opinions are like onions, they all stink.

the voting sysyem in tpt doesnt do anything with you
it just shows what people think
and as someone who seen some horrors on tpt i can confirm the negative votes is the only thing holding this community together and not turning it into an insane asylum

Lets not turn this into a flame war (3 heated comments in 5 minutes is not what I expected). Downvotes are still important to the current system and they aren't going away. People who downvote every single save out there annoy me, but they are still an important tool for feedback, and making sure front page has the most popular saves.

Going back to the original topic at hand, it might not be obvious when searching for special IDs which saves are private or not (even if it does show you in one place). There's precedent for special save IDs to have really good saves. So people seek them out, see some random junk, and downvote them. The reason they get more downvotes is just that they are more visible.

In the future, maybe there will be truly private saves that can't be seen or downvoted. But right now, downvotes on private saves do not matter one bit. Nobody sees them, and they don't affect your average score.

    Edit:

don't we already have truly private saves in form of saving to hard drive - offline saves?

Yes, but some people might want their saves backed up. Offline saves also aren't shown very well, some people don't realize they exist.

Mine wasn't heated. To be fair, was it blunt? Yes, but sugarcoating the truth wasn't going to help. It's why we are in these current predicaments. I'm not trying to come off as rude, sometimes the truth hurts. And if that came across as mean, rude, flaming. Then I'm sorry. Edit: No need to add another BUT!!!
