Cause for concerns

Hello, I see social media platforms and websites where we can chat with strangers as 13+ but I consider this safe but we can never be perfectly sure, the concern I am getting at is that I see some profiles where people say they are under 13 and sometimes other things that could be used for doxxing, phishing, and just personal danger.

I know we can never be perfectly sure everything is safe without removing the parts of this community that make it a community, I just ask for the age part to be removed and a function that makes it where you must be 13+ to post in the bio

You shouldn't worry about this too much. Plus privacy should be your main priority, mods check for any suspicious activity. No need to get paranoid about this and etc.

Grammar, vocabulary, and maturity should be easy enough to tell. Especially the way someome conducts themselves and all that.

This has been answered. I find it if someone is messaging you over and over, report it to a mod.

I do not mean for myself as I am 13+ but I do know that when I was 10-12 I did wanna feel older so I did things where people could phish me or dox me.

So privacy likely won't be their main priority which is a danger.

And if you respond to this with "well then the parents can take care of it" then do remember that no kid tells their parents everything lolbut in any case, thanks for responding

When I was thirteen it was pretty obvious, I been playing this game since then. I acted immature, young, naive, hardly made sense, if at all. I do agree, I didn't tell my parents anything about what I did on the internet.

Internet safety is taught in school's (Of course nobody takes this seriously), and I definitely agree pre-teens leak information out. But you shouldn't worry tbh, the mod team looks out for member's.

As a old man once said to me don't fret too much. Or you will worry yourself sick.

Age is hardly the most revealing thing you can put on your profile. I think the Location part can be more privacy invasive. And people do sometimes write way too much in their bios, yes. I wish people would be more private with what they share online, the close personal details can be shared with friends, not on your profile for all to see.
But anyway, up to them to learn that for themselves ...

Regarding the 13+ age stuff, 13 is the usual limit for using online services. We don't have a limit, partially because we have no way of verifying someone's age, they could just lie. We also don't collect the kinds of personal info that would require us to put in that limit.

Trust me we agree with you whole heartedly, you mean well. But sometimes as @jacob1 said "But anyway, up to them to learn that for themselves ..." Sometimes people have to fall on their faces to learn from mistakes, or to recover from substance abuse.

I know the last part has nothing to do with this thread. But you can't help those who don't want help. Sometimes they have to learn from their mistakes.

Again I like that you're looking out, but sometimes you have to let someone learn from experience.
