Personally life rules that do that kind of thing are just REPL clones, id like to see variants of things like STAR.

Jacob if you see this, you think there will ever be more life rules added to the base game? maybe hold a contest to decide by having people submit rules.

I doubt any new rules will be added to the base game. The list is already large. With custom GoL you can already create any rule you want and use it in saves.

yeah but i think itd be a cool thing to do to create some community colaboration, plus i absolutely love playing with the GOL rules, and finding GOL rules that do different things is hard when half the time it just says invalid rule.

If you are getting "invalid rule" then you don't have a full understanding about what is valid. The "begin" section must not be empty, you can't use 9 (as one GoL can only have 8 neighbors), and also you must format the text correctly. Also, if using the optional "states" parameter, it must be between 2 and 17.

With knowledge of these rules, you will never get the "invalid rule" message.

Information like this should be on the wiki, but I checked first and it wasn't there. It's probably the 9 thing tripping you up but now that you know you can avoid the error message in the future
