It is awesome and I think it might be somewhat faster than vista.

BUT I can't open Powder toy!

When I download and extract it onto the desktop there is just a icon of a diamond and some cog/wheels in it, So how do I run the powder toy in linux?

    Just use wine!
Wine will become your best friend.

P.S. Do not update unless your Internet is good cause when I had it my Internet cut out half way through an update and it broke apparently I nearly broke the entire Internet. The elders wouldn't be happy!

I am yet to see Wine run PC 3D games such as battlefield 2....

Search in google for 'Wine for linux', it is a windows emulator, so you can run windows programs in linux, you will be able to download the windows version and use it in linux
