On my profile i see a variable called reputation. What does it mean and how is it increased or decreased?

Reputation is simply the sum total of the upvotes on all your forum posts. It’s increased by, obviously, people upvoting your posts. AFAIK, there used to be an option to downvote posts as well but that was removed years ago
