Instead of increasing the resolution, making it bigger maybe some sort of scrolling thing so that you move the view point so there could be more space. Also, only have it like excel so that non used space wouldn't exist unless you moved there and put something there

How would it ruin the save files. Won't it just count them as having only used one screen size. (this might not be the case as I have not done any programing at all)
