Editable Workspace Size

I think it would be an awesome addition to the powder toy to have a customizable Workspace size. This means being able to Change the size of the simulation area to your desire. This would open the door to more complex art, much more advanced electronic creations (more space for components), and much more.

    And more lag.

Better optimization and performance patches could fix this. Even if it would cause lag at some points, it would be good to have as an optional feature.

    And... for computer resolution?

Optimising is hard work, and it would require a massive overhaul of the save system.
This has been suggested and rejected many times.

The iteration of this idea that came closest to being accepted was making larger work space an option in the TPT settings, which when enabled would allow the user to open larger saves at their own risk. Didn't happen though.

Well, we could support smaller saves by simply putting walls/void walls around them and centering them in the larger space, but on the flipside bigger saves couldn't be viewed on smaller screens in no real way other than weird scrolling and panning.

The current screen size is pretty accessible for computers with screens down to 640x480 in size and for viewing on bigger devices you can always use double- or triple sized mode.

There's a few mods out there that actually implement bigger screen sizes, which I've linked in one of the previous threads about the same topic.

...except for smaller saves which use loop edge mode.

well with the loop wall saves you can use the portals to make the loop effect.

Now we're just suggesting lots of hacks and ugly solutions ... portals aren't equivalent to loop edge mode at all.

I don't think it is worth it to make it resizable. Some different standard sizes could possibly work. But then we have to deal with making the saves load for people using alternate sizes, or the issue where someone might be able to fit tpt in double screen mode on one size but not another (would it automatically go back to single scale mode when opening a larger save? That would get annoying)
