    17 billion years to run down all combinations.
    it could take anywhere between 1 sec and 17 billion years to get the password.

    also check your keyboard layout settings, sometimes it changes on my pc..

    @lolzy

    That's fine. In the meantime I'll just keep trying to figure it out.

    @wouter215

    That's a very good point. Also, thanks! I wouldn't have thought of that! I'll check that.

    Thanks again for the idea! Unfortunately, I just checked and the layout doesn't appear to have changed. Sadly, my life just never seems to be that simple. Thankfully, though, this just proves to me that Ubuntu 10.04 is as reliable as always!

    Well, I still can't do much about the password. I may have to look into scripting it. It should be particularly easy since I already know a general set of characters that the botched password is likely to consist of.

    Is there a way to change the name of an account? So that if the botched Excimer Sun Software account were deleted I could change the name of this one to that?

    I may have just realised something.
    Usernames are stripped or spaces an other characters, Excimer Sun Software would become Excimer-Sun-Software, though this is not the case with passwords, you will have to login to the site to change it.

    Ohh! So my problem may not be the password I'm putting in, but the username itself! I may still be able to login to that account then, right?

    It works! Thanks! I put in dashes instead of spaces in the username and the password worked just fine. I guess that means that the only account that needs to go poof is this one and not both...
