Improving: Is it bad?

Improving is something many TPT gamers like to do on other saves, But do you have idea how it could affect you? I think not, and this is why I give MY OPINION of why it is bad and Ill explain how it can affect you: think about it, lets say you built a nuclear reactor, wich contains BTRY, loads of WIFI and a lot of other materials; then theres a person who wants to improve your work, you accept, he starts improving and once hes done, he gives you credit. So... Whats happening here? The thing is that the person did something so much better than what you made, and deleted many materials, has few WIFI and doesnt have BTRY. Now the thing is that when someone improves your work it could avoid you from getting more views and 1+s, it could also be made in a way you didnt want it. It is bad in my opinion, and I have to admit that it should be banned. Improving is something that could leave you behind. I dont care if you like to improve, But you know what? Make your own work, let the original creator improve however he wants it. I hope this message is read by all of you. Goodbye. Note: coma keys in my computer doesnt work.

It would be improving ONLY if you accept it. If you don't then that's just copying. Copying should be banned, Accepted improvement should be left alone.

Yes, but I just want people to think twice before accepting an improvement request. As I said, a person could improve a save in a way the original creator doesnt like. Now that I think it, it shouldnt be banned, but its still a bad idea.

But isn't it always nice to see something you started evolving into a great idea?

Like I said, people should start making their own saves and it's up to the original creator to do his save how he would like it.

The current rules take a more relaxed view, focusing on fair indication of how much work each person put into a save.

    9. Don't claim others' work as your own. If you didn't make it, don't resave it for yourself, this is taking credit for something you didn't make, and can take votes away from the original author. You can favorite a save instead of publishing a copy if you want to see it later. This doesn't mean you can't modify or improve saves though; building on the works of others is encouraged. If you give credit to the original author, it is usually OK to resave unless the author specifically prohibits it.

The way I tend to interpret this in practice is:

    • If no credit has been given to the original author, I unpublish.
    • If a save is very similar to the original, I unpublish (even if the original save said "free to copy" and credit was given), since we don't really need two published copies of exactly the same thing.
    • If enough changes have been made and credit has been given to the original author, I don't usually unpublish a save for being copied unless the original author complains, or the original save said "no copying".
    • If a save has been improved so much that it's barely recognisable as the original save (should still give credit though), or just uses the same technique or idea as the original without actually being a copy (in which case no credit is necessary), I don't unpublish at all (even if the original said "no copying").

So to make it less likely that people will improve your save, put "no copying" somewhere inside it. However, the only way to guarantee that no-one makes an improved version of your save is to not upload it...

Views and votes aren't really something you should worry about too much, instead just aim to produce interesting saves and have fun. And in any case, if appropriate credit has been given, then people who see the modified version will probably go and look at the original, and vote on that too.

If improving a save produces something much better than the original, I don't really see that as a problem.

I Agree. If People Want To Help You Then Let Them. No Wait. Did Anyone Say That? Nevermind.

Anyway Helping Should Be Encouraged Anyway As It Means That You Will Get A Friend Or Something Like That When Done. And Your Work Will Be Better (Or Not).
