Ok, so it's clear that TPT on iOs is already available (I mean heck, there was even a TPT for PSP, for those saying IPad isn't powerful enough). So anyway, here it is:
https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/powder-toy/id764674591?mt=8
The app itself is paid though, but the developer has the source freely available (as stated in the app description). However, I was just wondering if official TPT developers could look at the source and try their hands on porting the latest official releases.
Now, I know what you're going to say: It's expensive to publish an app on the AppStore. My answer to that is: publish it free on Cydia. ^_^ I'm not sure where to get a Mac cheap to code it on though. :/
It'll be uber osum to have TPT anywhere iOs users go and have the ability to edit saves on a retina-enable screen whilst on the toilet, right!? RIGHT!?! But seriously though, please consider it devs.
Off-topic: Where is my GROUP gone?! All the posts are gone!!! I was trying to ask about it in IRC but freenode hates me I think... That or everyone is busy on TPTMP...
Edit: Whoa. Just noticed there's like 130 pages on the invisible groups tab. How did it get so out of control?
Just want to point out that I was one of the guys that had to hack the PSP way back when with the pandora battery, and have tried most homebrew for the PSP (though I was stuck with the fat and all its glorious lack of an extra 32mb of ram). The TPT port for the PSP was slow as hell and had little to no elements and features. It is not an accurate representation of anything relating to the current powder toy.
Care to go in more detail? What rules where there for publishing apps and which rules did it go against?
Edit: Besides, if the official TPT was to be published on Cydia anyway, the AppStore rules won't even matter, right?
I believe the legality of having GPLv3 software in the iOS app store is a bit dodgy. If you search the internet for something like "ios app store gplv3" you should be able to find some more details. E.g. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/762498/iphone-and-gpl http://iphonedevsdk.com/forum/business-legal-app-store/65498-gplv3.html#Comment_269498 http://www.fsf.org/blogs/licensing/more-about-the-app-store-gpl-enforcement
Is there still a possiblity that we can see an official release of TPT on Cydia? Or at least regularly updated source codes we can compile ourselves?
There are source codes. You can find them straight from the home page.
I meant some sort of official source code for a port of TPT adapted specially for the iPad. An actual compiled app downloadable from Cydia would obviously still be better though. ^_^
Ok. I've an idea which will enable our osum devs to do their thing WITHOUT a Mac. Not sure if it's legal to talk about it here tho, if it isn't, please don't ban me mods. Ban boxmein instead, he/she pushed me to do this. Anyways: HACKINTOSH. With one of those, we can haz a iOs TPT and when we do, we can just pretend to Apple police that Simon does own a Mac when they ask. Whadya think, infallible idea right?!
