Why is there a Beta Version?

Why not just apply it to the game? Because of this, I cant use half of the saves, and If I switch to the Beta my entire stamp library is gone. What is the thinking behind this!?!

It's a beta because PROT and VIRS are still unfinished (I haven't worked on them since the beta's release ...)
Just use the release version, it should be able to open all saves, like one on the website. Also Maybe you ignored the large warning in red on the intro text saying this is a beta and you can't save things publicly. I guess it missed the fact that you also can't open saves from the beta in the release, but you shouldn't be using the beta as an official version anyway, unless it has the same major version number as the release (88 -> 89 is a different major version number)
If you really need some saves converted back, I can do that. -
