Menu Organisation

The current element menus in the powder toy don't seem to be organised in any particular way. I suggest, if there isn't in fact a pattern, that the menus shoul be arranged in simplicity (for the newbs/youngins/chellenged users), as in simplest (C4) near the right, and most complex (Ligh / Gbmb) near the left. The most notable case where this ordering applies is the electronics menu.

The only pattern that I have noticed (although not strict) is a chronological ordering, oldest near the right. I think that it would also be more logical to have groups, such as the waters, close to each other, as in the gravity tools.

If there are is an order, I would like to hear about it. Also, I would like to know if a redo of the menus would throw people.

     This would confuse older users...

    From me, no.

It isn't hard, just change element IDs.

The order is by element ID, which roughly corresponds to chronological.

Being able to find things because they are in a logical place is probably better than being able to find things because you have memorised where they are.

It isn't hard, just change element IDs.

I do not recommend changing element IDs on such a large scale. A significant amount of work would be required to ensure that elements from old saves are correctly converted. (I know OPS contains a save palette thing, but it doesn't work perfectly, github issue # 105. Also, it's not present in PSv saves, so you'd still need to create a list of old -> new element ID mappings.)

The reason some aren't sorted by order added is because when we removed all the LIFE elements and combined them into one, we started filling in new elements into those empty id's. I really wish back then someone would have fixed the problem to make things less confusing, but it's too late now. Everyone knows where the current elements are in the menu, inserting new elements randomly in the middle would confuse a lot of people.
