I just tried it on a different PC, and it works as I described. I even tried to rotate the piston, but it doesn't matter if it's horizontal or vertical. I am, however, running linux; you're probably running Windows?

     About that shredder.

It turns out the problem was not a glitch of such, more an update that prevents PSTN pushing objects into any WALL apart from  ABSORB WALL. The save is fixed now, but keep in mind the cumulative effect of changing elements.

About 4 of my saves have being broken in updates, and one of those saves was distributed to several others and a giveaway homepage, which are subsequently broken now and the users have left. (unable to fix them)

alright, but within 2 weeks of the release of PSTN, I had fixed PSTN pushing things into walls they don't belong, and fixed almost all the other noticeable bugs. It wasn't my fault that it took almost 3 months for the fixes to get released, and that people were using the bugged behavoir. I really wanted an update right then so people could use PSTN as intended without all the bugs the original had.

So even though saves were broken, that's only because there was no new version and everyone assumed PSTN was final after a few months of no new version ... that's just the problem how versions are released in tpt, even though i'm doing the most commits, Simon is often missing for large periods of time, and doesn't always check github to see what i'm commiting or when to update the game. I think it's ok to change the behavior of elements if they are either just released, or have some major flaws that do not look like an intended behavior to others (ex. FRME breaking)

Note: there were some versions between 86.0 which added pistons on 2/16, and version 87.1, which was the next release on 5/5. They were betas though. The first beta after piston did have the fix that broke your save.

Sorry I didn't mean to take it out on you.

Also it wasn't the PSTN fix that broke most of them. FIRW to EMBR was a bigger culprit.

edit: Although after three years of playing and only 4 saves broken out of 70 (and those only in need of minor fixing) I'd say thats a pretty good ratio.

how would FIRW to EMBR break many things? I thought the point was that EMBR would act the same. The only things I saw broken was some glitched glowing DUST save, and some infinite FWRK (using NEUT+DUST) thing that I was going to add back.

And lol, I was just taking it out on Simon. I didn't feel like you were angry at me.

When the default firework explosion was changed to an EMBR explosion all existing saves that had fireworks already in movement lost all velocity.

At the time this broke my first fp "The golden skull", and my fireworks display which I have since fixed. The original fireworks display was actually given to someone to create a front page for them, but when the original is loaded, the fireworks already in the air fall catastrophically and melt the electronics in the save.

That same fireworks display was given to several people actualy, as I alternated between it and a vector art homepage when people asked for one.

The third save that was "damaged" with the update was a firework bomb (that was one of my first saves) that now can't even melt qrtz as it's not hot enough. My other bomb "Awesome explosive" had to be scaped and rebuilt to keep the same amount of heat, and no longer looks as pretty :(

hmm ... i'll look into it. It's never too late to fix some saves, lol. Well, unless fixing it will just break newer ones ... but I doubt it.

Can REPLACE mode use a different key to invoke? I don't have an Insert key on my keyboard (Mac keyboard on Windows), and Mac clients will never have an insert key.
