What types of art are functionless?

Just wanting to clarify what makes an artwork functionless. My Block Cat save was removed today (and I have no quarrels) whilst a few others stayed up there which gets me questioning.
- Are we alowed to place in our saves functional items that aren't of the main form of the save but are just there as a safeguard? (and spam them?)
- Do fonts get removed from front page?
- As long as an artwork is artistic because it uses what tpt provides (e.g. trippy photon patterns) will it stay on front page?
- Are cities (without flashy lights) functionless art saves and to that extent if I make a city in the same style as my previous save (lcry and deco) without them will it get removed?

Again I have no quarrels with my saves being removed. (they all shot up the fp faster then most other saves which is the problem and I agree that it is fair)

Generally speaking, if you want something to -stay- on front page, it needs to be exceptionally pretty, do something that confounds and impresses people, or fulfills some useful function that is difficult to achieve (eg, blowing something up in a particular way.)
It doesn't especially matter if it's art, for example, if it's -impressive- art. If it's not impressive art and it does something cool, then it would probably stay. If it does something cool and it happens to also be impressive art, then it's usually especially popular. :P

Safeguard? How do you guard anything in a save? If a part of a machine is broken and you need a part to keep it from breaking, that's not likely to make people take it off front page.

Depends on if the font is impressive. I don't use fonts myself, so if there is something better, I -would- remove it to make room. :P

I don't even know what this means! @_@ Anything that is impressive stays on front page. We're just biased against static art patterns that don't move.

Destroyably cities are hit or miss, whether they stay on front page is up to people voting. So if it impresses people by flashing on and off, then it would stay.

Gah, I might've used the word in a bad context. What I meant was some small marginally useful electronic parts. -
