A girl at My school knows 552 digits of Pi....she wins national chess competitions on a weekly basis.... And she ranked 31th in the world in mathcounts at one time. She was a god at our school (which is absolutely filled to the brim with nerds). However, when she applied to TJHSST, the #1 public high school in the USA, she was rejected because of affirmative action... Makes me so pissed that the smartest girl in VA was rejected because she was asian. Stupid politics.
Affirmative action is a term referring to giving students advantages in the application process according to race. ex. if you're pacific islander, you have a better chance than a kid from europe. Also, Where I live in virginia, US, there are ALOT of asians and virtually no mexican, hispanic, african americans. As a result, those who are Mexican, hispanic, and african american, are more likely to get into a certain high school, even if somebody who would help the school and themselves more (ex. the girl I was talking about).
@epicksl(View Post) *facepalm* Is the sole raison d'ĂȘtre of congress to commit treason on a mass scale? From what I understand, this "affirmative action" rubbish is an attempt to remove non-existent discrimination by discriminating against intelligent people. Quite frankly, if they seek to create equality, they should remove that crap, anybody regardless of nationality race or gender can achieve high results with enough motivation and effort. This sort of policy seems to be some sort of convoluted mechanism for nations to bask in the superbia of their "multi-cultural" nature. You'd think that in a modern country like America, superbia and gula would be kept in check yet they seem to be in greater quantities than avaritia. Ira, invidia and avaritia are to be expected considering the socio-economic structure but the proliferation of acedia and luxuria seems to indicate that the retards running the system have no idea what they are doing.

We discussed this in my critical thinking class a couple months ago. This was the exact thought I had.
@tudoreleuu it was the stupid Bush administration. darn republicans =(. (im not saying republicans are wrong on everything, they have had their share of good ideas)
@epicksl(View Post) You'd think that the democrats would have done what was expected of them (to completely disagree with the republicans) instead of letting the bill pass in the first place.
off-topic: upon review of my post, I have now realized how easy it is to tuse the latin words for the seven deadly sins to describe congress.
