Ok I wanna make Ammonium Sulfide:

    Option A:

Mix 1 cup of ammonia, from Woolworths, mixed with 20 matches left for a week.

    Option B:

Mix 1 cup of ammonium sulfide with sulfur from flower shop or bunnings.

If they wont work what will?

    thanks

when you say 20 matches, you mean the phosphorus and the parafin wax or what ever it is on the top of the match?

Ammonium sulfide is commonly sold as a fertilizer. In fact, Home Depot has lots of fun stuff, like potassium nitrate.

Option B should work in theory. Seeing you will need Twice the number of ammonium than Sulfur.

Option A will not work because most matches are commonly made from phosphorus.

If you made Ammonium and sulfur aqueous then it should work...

    *looks up solubility rules*

well, if you get something like ammonium hydroxide (aq) and mixed it with something like strontium sulphide (aq), the result would be strontium hydroxide, which will fall to the bottom, and the ammonium sulphide aqueous in water. strain out the useless strontium hydroxide, evaporate the water, and vola!

(note, I did not check to see if the chemicals were poisonous or not.....)

edit: or as mniip said, ammonia with sulfuric acid...
