Since there is alot of fuss about whether TPT should be rewritten from scratch, I created a simple google form in which you can vote here. UPDATE: Switched from googles forms to strawpoll, thanks nucular!

Didn't they already do that once? People then started complaining about how much they missed the old features. I think it's fine.

If they do they should add a proxy option to allow accesing saves/login on certain school systems

There already is a proxy option, but you have to start tpt on the command line or use a shortcut to use it. Maybe there's a tutorial somewhere on the forums ...

Also for anyone wondering, there are no serious plans to rewrite tpt *again* at the moment. Just talk. But people talk all the time, doesn't mean the ideas are good, or a rewrite would improve things. One recent idea might help with ports but isn't a complete rewrite.
And I think someone voted for "no" 50 times ... lol.

TPT was C first, but is now C++
I do not know the reason, probably some shenanigans.

All in favor of a TPT rewrite in Haskell led by @savask, @mniip and me, say I!

also relevantly, making TPT modding impossible since 2014 (tm)

Is the TPT code very efficent since a re-write could make the code better (The devs could try)

Probably every open source project could benefit from a rewrite, but I don't think the devs want to do something like that. You, on the other hand, very well can start coding.
